Bari

Cities and Towns in Puglia

Bari is the most important city of the Puglia, the region's capital city and a vibrant commercial center. The city is situated to the South East of the Ofanto river, on the coast of the Adriatic Sea, with a port which links Italy to the East. Even today the historic trade fair the Fiera del Levante is still an important national event.

Corso Vittorio Emanuele divides the old city of Bari from the new town. Interesting monuments to visit include the Basilica of St Nicola, the Svevo Castle of Ferdinando II, the San Nicola harbor, the Provincial Archeological Museum, the Cathedral Museum and the Provincial Art Museum of Bari.

With its great maritime traditions, the fish cuisine has to be tasted with marvelous sea food best savoured in the "nderre a la lanze" area.

Gastronomic traditions include local specialties such as the "'ncapriata", lamb, "orecchiette", "melanzanata", and not forgetting, of course, the famous extra virgin olive oil.

Client Testimonials

Dear Guiseppe and Jesse,
We just returned from our most wonderful vacation to Italy and wanted to first thank you for putting together such a wonderful trip, and second to provide some feedback for the future.

Rental Car- easy to find at Florence airport and the personnel at Avis/Budget very nice and helpful. We didn't get the Mercedes A class as listed on the voucher(probably just as well) but a nice Renault which worked just fine. The lady who checked us in told us we should expect a refund since we were turning the car in three days earlier than the rental agreement. I am assuming that comes to you guys and is just part of your service.

Hotels
1. Hotel Sovestro in San Gimignano was wonderful. The staff were very friendly and helpful and made the first portion of our journey very stress free. They made us feel like we were part of their family. I would recommend it to anyone and would specifically ask for it if we were to make a return visit.

2. Hotel La Baia in Monterosso was nice and it's location was very good especially for us older folks humping luggage from/to the train station.

3. Hotel Lucchesi in Florence- what can I say expect FANTASTIC. The rooftop view at sunset is well worth it. Again very friendly and helpful staff. Would recommend it to everyone.

Wine Tour
Money well spent. We had a great time overall. The driver Mario was OUTSTANDING. He had lots of local knowledge as well as about winemaking. USE HIM AGAIN!!!

1. Altesino- fantastic and they were not cheap on their pouring. Great experience.
2. Cal D'orcia - just ok. The tour guide was bit lame, and when my wife by chance met the owner, he was a bit rude. The lunch was nothing to brag about and definitely not something we would do again. We would not recommend, but maybe it was just a bad day.
3. Azienda Agricola Patrizia Cencion Sloaria- Again a great tour by one of the owner's daughters. We felt like we were the only thing on their mind although there were other customers there. A great way to complete the day.

Trains - We had to trash the tickets you guys got us for the trip Monterosso to Florence because the 2 - 10 minute train change times in La Spezia and Pisa were simply not doable. We ended up purchasing new tickets in Monterosso that allowed us to only make one change(In Pisa) with a much more realistic interval and got us into Florence at the same time as the one you booked.

Again we had a fantastic time and are very appreciative of everything you booked for us. We wish you continued success and if our travels should bring us back to Italy, we know who to call.
