Villa Pamphili as it is known in Rome is one of the city's largest parks in the center of Rome often overlooked by visitors because it is surrounded entirely by ancient walls which line the Aurelia Antica road which is one of the longest roads in Italy that was specifically built for Vatican City.
The villa itself, known as the Villa Doria Pamphili is a seventeenth-century villa that was built for the Pamphili family that later passed to Prince Giovanni Andrea IV Doria, It is one of the largest gardens and parks in central Rome home to a cafe in the park, many ponds and even a water-fall system which is wonderful for children and adults alike to experience.
Villa Pamphili is the largest landscaped public park in central Rome easily accessible from the Gianicolo hill that you can easily climb to from Trastevere or from Vatican City.
Certainly a park you do not want to miss when visiting Roma and because there is so much to see in Rome, we recommend spending more time in Rome to experience the beautiful parks and gardens that the city is famous for.
