Polignano a Mare Puglia

Polignano a Mare

Cities and Towns in Puglia

In the past 5 years, Polignano a Mare has become one of southern Italy's most popular towns for tourists and with good reason.  It's a spectacular destination that is an architectural marvel with whitewashed ancient 'palazzi' and one of Italy's most famous restaurants, the Grotta Palazzese, drawing visitors from around the world because of its unique formation and many people coming to the town come just for this restaurant, though we caution all to not be fooled by the fame of the restaurant.  We don't like to speak badly about anyone in Italy, but coming to this town just for this restaurant would leave anyone let down.

Come for the town, but don't get fooled into dining at the Grotta Palazzese restaurant or hotel.  It's overly priced, though not only this - there have been many food poisonings in 2019 and we have had many clients who have fallen ill as a result.

Polignano as a town on the other hand is a joy to discover for a day or so, though staying here longer can feel claustrophobic and inauthentic mostly now because of the mass tourism that the restaurant itself draws.

Client Testimonials

I went to high school with the owner of the company who organized my honeymoon for myself and my now wife from Tokyo. We spent three short weeks seeing Piedmont and experiencing wine paradise there, then heading to Nice in France with our private driver and flying to Rome where honestly 4 days is NOT enough. They keep saying to spend more time and we could not agree more! You need to spend more time in many of these places. Over the course of our time in Italy we saw so much and loved it all, though Sicily and the Mondello estate they had at us, 2 minutes walk from the prettiest beach in the world was our favorite and Roberto the owners there who know Jess and her team made it so wonderful for us! We are planning on going back and even considering moving to Italy we had such a great time!
