Matera, Basilicata

Matera is one of the world's oldest inhabited cities in the world.  It is by far one of the most impressive cities in the region of Basilicata which is located in Italy's deep south.   The city has been considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1993.

This ancient city is so impressive because of its unique geography, geology, architecture and the amazing events which happened here.  Featured in the film the "Passion of Christ", you can catch a glimpse of what awaits you here, but the magnitude of it - the incredible scope of what humans did here, simply has to be seen in person.
