Overview

Foggia is both a city and a province in the Puglia region of southern Italy. It is a relatively desolate inland area that is extremely hot and dry in the summer months. Many Italians emigrated from this town when crops dried up and the area, which is known for its grains suffered severe drought.

Many people each year return to Foggia to experience the land of their ancestors, however we highly recommend for people to stay on the coast rather than inland for a much more pleasant stay and simply take a day trip to the town which is quite small. Part of the reason for this, especially during the summer months is that it is extremely hot inland.

The Gargano coast is also one of the more spectacular areas in all of Italy and not to be missed, only 30 minutes drive from Foggia.
