Overview

The Villa D'Este is considered to be Italy's most impressive gardens. Certainly one of the most awe-inspiring gardens on the planet in terms of size and sheer grandeur, especially in so far as the incredible water works on display here are concerned. Incredible and lavish fountains run throughout the garden, some even working simultaneously to the sound of classical music. Children of all ages love this place and feel a sense of magic upon entering through the palace doors onto what seems a secret garden full of delight and surprise at every turn!

This garden was considered a model to gardeners throughout Europe and has an impressive history that dates back to the time of the Cardinals of Italy who spent by today's standards spent hundreds of millions of Euro on completing these fascinating garden works.

These gardens are huge and take at least a couple of hours to wander through and if you are a photography lover, this is the place for you. Visiting the Villa D'Estte can be combined with visiting the town of Tivoli, however because of the amount of walking we often find that visiting both Hadrian's Villa, the Villa Gregoriana and The Villa D'Este to be too much, so we urge you to consider seeing one of the two places, though not all 3 on the same day.

We offer privately guided tours to Tivoli from Rome and often suggest making advanced reservations at La Sibilla, which is a reasonably priced, yet very fine dining experience that dates back to the 1700's and has an incredible history in a truly romantic location set under the temple of Pluto overlooking the Villa Gregoriana.
