Overview
Monopoli is beautiful and lively fishing village located about an hour and a half south of Bari in the region of Puglia. A white-washed town against the turquoise Adriatic with a young crowd now prosperous from the booming tourism in Puglia, there are plenty of wonderful seafood restaurants, fine stores and interesting points of interest to visit here. It is often overlooked by visitors to the area for the more popular town of Polignano a Mare to the north, however Monopoli offers a more relaxed atmosphere and some gorgeous accommodation options and fine dining experiences.
Definitely worth a stop during your time in Puglia, those who come to visit, enjoy the energy of the place, especially on a Sunday evening when the locals come out for the evening 'passegiata' (walk to see and be seen typical of southern Italy), where there is live music, various artists displaying their local works and often a great assortment of street food.
