Today it is a major hub of activity from early April until late October and in 2016 saw over 10 million visitors. With a population (including the surrounding area) of under 20,000 annual inhabitants, it is easy to imagine with so very many visitors to the area it is a very busy area as many use it as a base for visiting Capri, Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast itself.
