Tucked away at the far edge of the Amalfi Coast, Nerano remains one of the region’s most quietly beautiful corners. Known to those who spend time here, it offers a slower rhythm, crystalline waters, and a sense of authenticity that has all but disappeared elsewhere along the coast.

In Roman times, this stretch of coastline was already known and appreciated, with villas scattered along the cliffs and coves. The nearby Punta Campanella itself was once home to a temple dedicated to Athena, marking a point of passage between the gulfs of Naples and Salerno.

What makes Nerano different, however, is what came after, for while much of the Amalfi Coast evolved into a network of powerful maritime towns, Nerano remained small, agricultural, and largely unchanged. Its terraces, carved carefully into the hills over generations, were shaped not for show, but for survival—supporting olive groves, citrus, and the simple rhythms of rural life.

That sense of continuity is still felt today, and Nerano remains one of the most compelling places on the Amalfi Coast to stay—particularly for those looking for something more grounded and authentic. It’s not about spectacle here, but about the rhythm of daily life: mornings that unfold slowly, afternoons by the water, and evenings spent dining just steps from the sea.
