Avellino is both a city and a province in the Campania region of southern Italy. It is located approximately 1 hour from Sorrento on the coast. The area is a an area where many Italians in the first part of the century emigrated from in the the early 1900s because of economic difficulty and in fact the area draws many ancestors each year who come to discover the area.

The city of Avellino itself is not particularly interesting although some of the surrounding villages and mountain towns are quite pretty. There are numerous vineyards located in the area that produce the Falanghina grape and some notable wines come from the area and we work with some wonderful vineyards in the area where we can arrange some wonderful wine tastings and delicious lunch.

We do not particularly recommend staying for more than a night in the town unless with family, since it is much more pleasant to stay on the coast in Minori or Vietri sul Mare or even Salerno or Sorrento.
