Overview

South of the Amalfi Coast, in the area known as Cilento,  some of the most impressive Greek ruins are located at Paestum, now a Unesco World Heritage site, Paestum was once a major city with important political and economic importance in Magna Grecia (Greater Greece) as the Greeks spread over the southern Mediterranean.

The site contains three of some of the most impressively preserved Doric temples outside of Agrigento in Sicily, that date from about 600 to 450 BC and an amphitheatre, one of the largest of its kinds in  southern Italy. The site is also home to an impressive archeological museum and contains many ancient artifacts that date back to the mid-century BC.  Today the remains of the city are found in the modern frazione of Paestum, which is part of the comune of Capaccio in the Province of Salerno, Campania, Italy. The modern settlement, directly to the south of the archaeological site, is a popular seaside resort, with long sandy beaches.

Our private tours of Cilento and Paestum explore one of the greatest Greek temple sites outside of Greece with an experienced local English driver-guide who will show you some of the areas most spectacular coastal landscapes and introduce you to some of the local cuisine.
