South of the Amalfi Coast, there is incredible natural beauty to be discovered along the Cilento coast.  Home to spectacular sea-side towns and long stretches of beaches, this area is also home to some of the most well preserved Greek temples in Italy, as found in Paestum.   Here, not only will you discover this amazing site, but you will also get to sample Mozzarella di Buffala, some of the most famous Italian cheese, produced nearby where where we will visit a local farm and you will get a chance to taste some of the most flavorful and fresh ingredients you can imagine!

Day 1

Upon arriving at the Naples airport or rail station, we will be there to meet you and bring you to the lovely town of Santa Maria di Castellabate, where you will be staying overlooking the sea at the Villa Sirio.

Once you unwind and settle into your sea view room, you will have time to admire this beautiful fishing village, take a swim and get ready for our welcome dinner at a remarkable local restaurant in town this evening.

Day 2

After a delicious buffet breakfast at the Hotel Sirio this morning, we set out to explore the ancient city of Paestum where you will enjoy a guided tour through one of southern Italy's most impressive archeological parks.

Following our tour, we will head to a nearby local farm where they produce Mozzarella di Buffala where you will have the opportunity to taste some of the local products over lunch.

After lunch, we head up to Castellabate, which is a gorgeous town overlooking the marina and coast below, where you will have the opportunity to explore some magnificent views and enjoy this wonderful place before heading back down to the hotel where you will have the rest of the evening at leisure.

Day 3

After breakfast at the hotel this morning, we head south along the spectacular Cilento coast, where you we will have a number of opportunities to stop in small towns and take wonderful photographs before reaching the Marina di Camerota at the southern tip of the peninsula and we will have time for a light lunch at the port, before beginning on our afternoon boating excursion along the magnificent cape of Palinuro.

This boating excursion is unlike any other in Italy, exposing you to the tallest lighthouse in Europe, gorgeous cave grottoes (even better than those at Capri) and truly marvelous scenery.

In the afternoon following the tour, your bags will already be in your rooms at the hotel inside the beautiful town of Pisciotta, where you will enjoy dinner.

Day 4

Following breakfast this morning we will venture in spectacular countryside where Fiano (white) and Aglianico (red) wines are produced on the Albamarina estate.   

This is one of the finest wine producers in the area, producing red, white, rose and spumante, which is a sparkling white wine, similar to prosecco and champagne, but very unique.  

Driving through the countryside, you will have the opportunity to enjoy some marvelous scenery, local towns and villages and various cheese and olive oil producers, the products of which you will all enjoy today! 

Return to Pisciotta in the evening after a long day for dinner and overnight at leisure. 

Day 5

Following breakfast at this morning, we head to Valle della Lucania, which is a beautiful town and wonderful for shopping!   For those who do not wish to shop, you can enjoy the beautiful town and have a delicious cappuccino at any number of fine cafes! 

From here, we head to the wonderful Grotta di Pertosa, which is one of the most incredible natural phenomenons in southern Italy, where there are quite literally a series of rivers which through a network of cafes.

Following our guided tour here, we return to Naples, where for your last night you will stay in the beautiful area of Chiaia in front of the Ovo Castle at the Grand Hotel Continental.  Enjoy the wonderful facilities at this hotel, before our final pizza dinner in Naples this evening! 

Day 6

Following buffet breakfast at the hotel this morning, we will conclude our services, however since there is so much to see in Naples, including Underground Naples, Borgo Mare Chiaro, the historical center of Naples and so many islands like Ischia, Procida and Capri, we definitely recommend you consider extending your stay and we can help you with all of the logistics to do this!

Hotels

1. Hotel Sovestro in San Gimignano was wonderful. The staff were very friendly and helpful and made the first portion of our journey very stress free. They made us feel like we were part of their family. I would recommend it to anyone and would specifically ask for it if we were to make a return visit.

2. Hotel La Baia in Monterosso was nice and it's location was very good especially for us older folks humping luggage from/to the train station.

3. Hotel Lucchesi in Florence- what can I say expect FANTASTIC. The rooftop view at sunset is well worth it. Again very friendly and helpful staff. Would recommend it to everyone.

Wine Tour

Money well spent. We had a great time overall. The driver Mario was OUTSTANDING. He had lots of local knowledge as well as about winemaking. USE HIM AGAIN!!!

The various wineries we visited on tour:

Altesino- fantastic and they were not cheap on their pouring. Great experience.

Azienda Agricola Patrizia Cencion Sloaria- Again a great tour by one of the owner's daughters. We felt like we were the only thing on their mind although there were other customers there. A great way to complete the day.

Again we had a fantastic time and are very appreciative of everything you booked for us. We wish you continued success and if our travels should bring us back to Italy, we know who to call.
