Stilo, Calabria

Stilo is considered one of the most beautiful towns in Italy and displays its symbol as such upon entering the town.

It's an impressive site to behold visiting this town, which rises on the slopes of the terraced hills dotted with olive trees and vineyards, the town quite literally seems to be painted onto the cliff face.  

Stilo was the main Byzantine centre in of southern Calabria and welcomed Bsilian hermits and monks who lived in its caves and built the famous Cattolica church, which is one of the most important and most well preserved churches in the Calabria region, which still after centuries is incredibly well intact.
