Private Wine Tour of the Orcia Valley

  • Orcia Valley Wine Tour

Overview

The Orcia Velley in south-eastern Tuscany is one of the most beautiful regions in Tuscany and a world renowned UNESCO World Heritage site.   Known for the golf-course-like hills of green and gold (depending on what season you visit), this area is famous for some of Italy's most notable wine varieties including the Vino Nobile from Montepulciano and the Brunello di Montalcino.   The wines are incredible and so are the towns we visit on this full day tour of this unique area!

We start the day by meeting you at your hotel or villa in Tuscany.  Depending on where you are located, our first stop is Montepulciano where you will have some time to enjoy the town, the fine leather shops and incredible views over the countryside.

Following some sightseeing in town, we head into one of the most incredible wine-cellars in Italy, the Cantina de' Ricci.

Here, you will enjoy an introduction to one of the oldest wine cellars in Tuscany and then begin to sample the incredible 'Vino Nobile' wine, famous the world over in addition to some Tuscan delicacies like fine cheese, salami and focaccia.

From Montepulciano, we head through the Tuscan countryside to the town of Pienza where you may want to enjoy a walk through the town or lunch, depending on how hungry you are.  Pienza is known for the Pecorino cheese which in Montepulicano you will have sampled, though should you be a cheese lover, there will be no shortage to be found in Pienza!

Pienza is another town which offers incredible views over the sea of rolling hills in the valley below and it is a nice, flat town to take a walk through.

Finally, we head to Montalcino which wine lovers will know for the incredible 'Brunello di Montalcino', where we will visit the incredible fortress of Montalcino and one of the most loved wine stores and tasting rooms in Tuscany, L'Enoteca la Fortezza

Here, you will have the chance to enjoy a number of differet wines from Montalcino and you will have the chance to enjoy the town of Montalcino and purchase as much wine as you wish here which can also be shipped home.

In the evening, following our visit of the three towns, numerous wine tasting, we take you back to your hotel or villa where we will conclude our services.
