Overview

This is a great option for those coming into the port in Livorno who want to see Florence and Pisa, two very important cities in Italy.  Our English speaking driver-guide will pick you up at your ship at approximately 08:30 AM (depending on the arrival of your ship) and from here this glorious day will begin.  We also have the option to stop at a local Tuscan winery and for you to see some of the best of the Tuscan countryside today.

Our tour will being by driving south of Livorno to Florence  introduction to this Renaissance city you first stop at the Piazzale Michelangelo to enjoy the glorious panorama of the city.

Next you are brought down to the city centre where you have approximately 3 hours guided tour of Florence. You will visit the Cathedral complex in the heart of Florence which includes the gothic Duomo (the dome designed by Brunelleschi is a real marvel), Giotto's bell tower and the Baptistery, with its bronze doors commonly referred to as the Gates of Paradise.

From here, we will proceed on toPiazza della Signoria to see a copy of Michelangelo's David in the outdoor setting for which it was originally designed. You'll also see the 14th-century Loggia, which houses several famous sculptures and the grand Palazzo Vecchio (Florence's most famous and imposing palazzo, once home to the reigning Medici family).

Your walking tour will continue to the famous Ponte Vecchio, built in 1220. This bridge crossing the Arno River is lined with shops that traditionally sell gold and silver.

Your tour is far from over! Proceed to the 14th-century Santa Croce Church, which holds the tombs of great Florentines including Michelangelo, Machiavelli, the composer Rossini, as well as a memorial to Dante.  Also, if you are interested in shopping for leather on your trip, Florence is the ideal city for it.

There are many quality leather shops near Santa Croce.

Later in the afternoon we will depart to Pisa (1 hour drive) to visit (by your own) the Piazza dei Miracoli (Field of Miracles), one of the finest architectural ensembles in the world, including the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Duomo (cathedral) and the Baptistery.

Total time in Pisa is approximately 1.5 hours before the return drive (30 minutes) to your cruise ship.
