Upon arrival in Florence, whether by airplane or train, our team will wait to greet you and provide you with a private transfer to your hotel.

We have arranged for you to stay at one of Florence's top-rated four-star hotels, located on the Ponte Vecchio Bridge. The area is renowned for its beautiful jewelry shops. Day 2

Private Walking Tour of Florence including Accademmia Gallery with VIP tickets

  • Breakfast

After enjoying an excellent buffet breakfast at the hotel this morning, we'll meet you to start a privately guided tour of historic Florence. Your hotel is in the city's historic center, so everything will be within easy walking distance. However, your guide will bring the history of this incredible city to life and explain in detail its remarkable history, known as the cradle of the Renaissance.

During the tour, you'll visit the Medici doors, palaces, and the stunning marble works throughout the city. You'll conclude your time at the Accademia Gallery, where Michelangelo's David is housed. You'll then have the rest of the afternoon to spend at your leisure. You can visit the Uffizi galleries, which contain numerous other works of art, enjoy fantastic shopping, or walk through the Boboli Gardens. We also offer cooking experiences in Florence and many optional tours. However, trying to do only a little is essential as Florence is like an open-air museum, and there's so much to experience just by walking!

The rest of the day will be yours to enjoy in Florence!

Day 3

Pisa & Lucca

  • Breakfast

This morning, after a rich, Italian-style buffet breakfast at the hotel, your English-speaking driver guide will meet you to begin your journey into northern Tuscany to enjoy the beautiful cities of Pisa and Lucca, which were, at one time, great rivals of Florence.

We will head first to Pisa, which is famous for its leaning tower in the square of Miracles. Of course, Pisa is touristy, but it's touristy for a reason: It is beautiful and it is a lot of fun to visit Pisa, even if just for the photos! Here, you can have a chance to climb the leaning tower if you wish. However, let us know in advance, as tickets are subject to availability!

Following time in Pisa, we will continue to Lucca, the walled city where you will enjoy free time for lunch and walk through this incredible medieval town.  Lucca is also a fantastic center for shopping, music, and beautiful markets.  You will have time for shopping before we continue to our final destination for the day, Castellina in Chianti, in the heart of the Chianti region, where you will be based for the next three nights at the beautiful Palazzo Squarcialupi, a terrific hotel in the center of town with a swimming pool, overlooking the vineyards.

The rest of the night and dinner will be at leisure.

Day 4

San Gimignano Wine Experience

  • Breakfast
  • Lunch
  • Wine Tasting

After a leisurely breakfast at the hotel this morning with plenty of time to relax and enjoy the swimming pool, we will depart through the stunning Chianti wine territory. Our destination is San Gimignano, where we will visit a renowned winery that produces some of the top wines in Tuscany. There, you will savor a fantastic Tuscan lunch paired with wine tasting.

After our time at the winery, we will head to San Gimignano, one of the most beautiful towns in Tuscany. This town offers spectacular views of the valley. You will have some free time to shop around and climb the towers. San Gimignano is also famous for its gelato, so take advantage of the chance to try some of the best in Italy.

In the evening, we will return to Castellina in Chianti for dinner at leisure and overnight at the hotel.

Day 5

Siena

  • Breakfast
  • Wine Tasting

This morning, after a leisurely breakfast at the hotel with plenty of time to relax and enjoy the swimming pool, we will depart for the stunning Siena. Here, you will have a private guided tour and some time at leisure to enjoy and walk around this beautiful city.

In the afternoon, we will return to Castellina in Chianti for dinner at leisure and overnight at the hotel.

Day 6

Return transfer to Florence via Montereggioni

  • Breakfast

Good morning! After breakfast, it's time to pack your things as we prepare to leave for Florence. However, if you'd like to go somewhere else, just let us know your desired destination. If we have enough time, we'll stop at Monteriggioni, one of Tuscany's most important fortresses. You'll have the opportunity to walk along its walls before we depart.

If you're not continuing your journey with us, it's time to say "Arrivederci" (until we meet again), but not goodbye to Florence! However, if you'd like to travel south to Rome and the Amalfi Coast or north to Venice or Milan and the Lakes and Dolomite mountains in Italy's incredible north, just let us know. We'll do our best to help you plan your next adventure in Italy!

Traveler Reviews

Emily and David Davison Travelled with us

My husband and I just took a two week trip to Italy that was planned for us by Eleanor Kinchin-Smith. It was a fantastic trip and we could not have been more thrilled. We worked together with Ele to let her know about our interests and our style of travel. She planned the perfect trip with excellent private guides at all of our sites, professional drivers and lovely hotels. We arrived in Italy with all of our train and ferry reservations made by Ele, with tickets in hand. She was in touch with us daily throughout our trip to make sure that things were going smoothly. She was able to make a few changes to our itinerary as needed. We look forward to working with Ele again on our next trip and have put her in touch with another family member to help plan their trip as well.

Dear Guiseppe and Jesse,

We just returned from our most wonderful vacation to Italy and wanted to first thank you for putting together such a wonderful trip, and second to provide some feedback for the future.

Hotels

1. Hotel Sovestro in San Gimignano was wonderful. The staff were very friendly and helpful and made the first portion of our journey very stress free. They made us feel like we were part of their family. I would recommend it to anyone and would specifically ask for it if we were to make a return visit.

2. Hotel La Baia in Monterosso was nice and it's location was very good especially for us older folks humping luggage from/to the train station.

3. Hotel Lucchesi in Florence- what can I say expect FANTASTIC. The rooftop view at sunset is well worth it. Again very friendly and helpful staff. Would recommend it to everyone.

Wine Tour

Money well spent. We had a great time overall. The driver Mario was OUTSTANDING. He had lots of local knowledge as well as about winemaking. USE HIM AGAIN!!!

The various wineries we visited on tour:

Altesino- fantastic and they were not cheap on their pouring. Great experience.

Azienda Agricola Patrizia Cencion Sloaria- Again a great tour by one of the owner's daughters. We felt like we were the only thing on their mind although there were other customers there. A great way to complete the day.

Again we had a fantastic time and are very appreciative of everything you booked for us. We wish you continued success and if our travels should bring us back to Italy, we know who to call.

Jesse & Giuseppe,

Sandy and I have been looking through my slides of our trip to Southern Italy. We had such a good time with you and Giuseppe that we wanted to let you know again. You were the best guides ever.

Good to know

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a private tour, or will we join a group?

Private. You travel with your own guide and driver, and the only people on the itinerary are the ones you bring with you. Nothing is shared with strangers, and the pace of each day is yours to set.

Can the itinerary be changed to suit us?

Yes. What you see here is a starting point, not a fixed departure. Tell us how long you have, what you love and what you would rather skip, and we will reshape it around you. A slower morning, an extra night somewhere you fell for, a different region entirely.

How do we start planning?

Send us a note using the form on this page, or call us on 1-866-779-2565. A travel specialist replies within one business day, usually with a few questions of their own. There is no cost and no obligation in asking.

Are the hotels shown the ones we will stay in?

Usually, yes. Hotels are subject to availability, and if one is full on your dates we will replace it with a property of a similar standard and tell you before you book. Never a surprise on arrival.

When should we book?

The earlier the better, particularly for travel between May and September, when the best small hotels and the guides worth having are taken first. That said, we have put together beautiful trips at short notice, so ask and we will tell you honestly what is still possible for your dates.
