Venosa, Basilicata

Venosa, Basilicata

Explore the Cities and Towns of Basilicata

Overview

Venosa is a lovely town located in the Basilicata region of southern Italy and a surprisingly delightful city to visit in this region.   In the time of the Romans, it was known as Venusia 'City of Venus' to the Romans who attributed its birth to Aphrodite and it held an important position during Roman times.

Coming into the town, you can't miss the Aragonese castle, built in 1470 by the Orsini family which is an impressive site to visit and a must see when visiting here.

However, it is not only the history of this town which makes it such a special place. There is a sense of elegance, cleanliness and regalness to the city centre where numerous bars and restaurants line the well cleaned avenues.

This is definitely a town in Basilicata you do not want to miss and we can take you there on our tours of the incredible region of Basilicta.
