Overview
Rivello is a spectacular medieval town, dramatically situated in the Basilicata region of Italy which was previously known as Lucania and predates both the Greeks and Romans. Ancient human remains which date back to neolithic times have been found in the area.
Today, Rivello like many hill top villages in Italy is not inhabited by many, since employment aside from agriculture is relatively non-existent and many of the town's youth have been driven to other Italian cities. During the summer holiday months, many locals return and the town comes alive with local bars, restaurants and festivities.
