Bassano del Grappa is an absolutely beautiful town located in the Veneto region of Italy which many people visiting the region only experience because of Venice, Italy's most touristic destination and the most expensive destination in Europe.
Very few visitors to Italy ever make it into the Veneto region of Italy and it is such a shame because there are so many wonders to behold in the Veneto Region and for those that do venture into this region, it will be an experience of a life time.
Bassno del Grappa for exaample is knows as the "Florence of the North" and the city has an impressive artistic heritage, a marvelous mixture of Renaissance and the Baroque, which can be seen in the numerous tourist sites: the Loggia del Podestà, the Convent of St Francesco, the Parolini Gardens, the Ponte Vecchio wooden bridge, the Palazzotto Montevecchio and Monte di Pietà, the Porta delle Grazie, the Posta Dieda, the Cathedral of St Maria in Colle, Palazzo Agostinelli, Palazzo Bonauguro, Palazzo Sturm the Ceramics Museum, the small Church of the Angelo, the Church of St Donato, the Civic Tower, the Ossario Temple, the Campese Monastery, and the Parco Ragazzi of 99.
The gastronomic traditions of Bassano del Grappa feature specialties made with Asparagus and Baccala, but above all, the town is known for its Grappa. Close to Bassano del Grappa is the Parco delle Grotte Oliero where one can visit the Covolo degli Assassini and the Covolo delle Sorelle by boat.
