Overview

Modica is a beautiful town in south eastern Sicily with a spectacularly stacked medieval center and an absolutely gorgeous baroque style cathedral. It is one of southern Sicily's most atmospheric towns, meaning there is a wonderful vibe when the evening hour sets for apperativi, young people, artists and the townspeople all getting fashionable and enjoying the local flavors in style!

Recently Modica has been more and more well-known in Sicily and Italy for their chocolate production which is undoubtedly one of the very finest in the Mediterranean.

Unlike some of the other Unesco-listed cities in the area, it doesn't package its treasures into a single easy-to-see street or central piazza: rather they are spread around the town and take some discovering. It can take a little while to orient yourself in Mo but once you've got the measure of the bustling streets and steep staircases you'll find a warm, genuine town with a welcoming vibe and very strong sense of pride.
