Urbino, Marche

Urbino, Marche Italy with Italy Vacation Specialists

Explore the Cities and Towns of Marche

Overview

Many people say that the town of Urbino is the Marche region's crown jewel.  Dramatically positioned against the backdrop of the incredibly green countryside in central Italy, its position commands spectacular views over the hills and valleys in the distance.  However, Urbino is not only beautiful, it is also the birth place of two of of Italy's most important and notable painters Raphael  who's full name is: Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino.

When visiting Urbino, don't miss a stop to the 15th-century Ducal Palace - 'Palazzo Ducale', which has turned into the National Gallery of the Marche region.

It is also possible to visit Raphael’s home, where you can witness even more more paintings, including ones by the artist’s father. Next to the neoclassical cathedral is the Museo Diocesano Albani, with religious artifacts dating back to the 13th century.

There are wonderful leisure activities nearby Urbino, including swimming in the coastal resort towns only 15 minutes away, hang-gliding, wine-tastings, truffle hunting, cooking and fine dining!

But don't miss visiting Urbino when visiting the Marche region because it's a stop you do not want to miss!
