Overview
Throughout the day, we will visit Murano, the island famous for its glass-making traditions that still preserve ancient techniques. Here, you will admire the glass masters at work while they produce the beautiful objects that have made them famous all over the world.
Following this, we will head to Burano, the most cheerful and popular of the lagoon islands. Its brightly painted houses give it the air of an Italian opera set, while the success of its most important industries, such as lace making, fishing, and boat building, accounts for the well-being of its people.
Finally, our last stop will be Torcello, which can be considered the “Mother of Venice” and was settled between the 5th and 7th centuries by the first waves of refugees from the Barbarian invasions on the Mainland. Today, the island is nearly uninhabited (with only 12 residents). Covered by rich typical vegetation, Torcello preserves the most ancient monument of the Lagoon: the solemn Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta, founded in 639 and rebuilt in 1008, decorated with outstanding Byzantine mosaics.
Concluding the tour, we will head back to Venice Island, where we will either take you back to your cruise ship or hotel.
