Cascia

Cities and Towns in Umbria

The town of Cascia is a beautiful medieval town located in the southeast corner of the Umbria region (central Italy).  It is famous for being home to one of the most important female patron Saints of Italy, St. Rita di Cascia .

"(Born Margherita Lotti 1381 – 22 May 1457) was an Italian widow and Augustinian nun venerated as a saint in the Roman Catholic Church. Rita was a child bride, married before the age of 12. The marriage lasted for eighteen years, during which she is remembered for her Christian values as a model wife and mother who made efforts to convert her husband from his abusive behaviour. Upon the murder of her husband by another feuding family, she sought to dissuade her sons from revenge."  Continue reading here:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rita_of_Cascia

The town of Cascia has more than its religious identity: like all of the Umbrian towns, it conserves its medieval architecture with sites of tourist interest such as the gothic Church of St Francis, the Church of St Antonio Abate, the Collegiate of St Maria, the towns oldest Palazzo, the Church of St Agostino and Palazzo Carli. Cascia is of artistic importance, having a series of canvases depicting the life of St Antonio Abate, the wooden crucifix and other precious artworks from the 1400s.

The countryside here, surrounding villages and wonderful nearby towns, cities and walking paths are a heaven for those who wish to enjoy authentic Italy.  We can help you with all of your plans here in Umbria

Client Testimonials

I went to high school with the owner of the company who organized my honeymoon for myself and my now wife from Tokyo. We spent three short weeks seeing Piedmont and experiencing wine paradise there, then heading to Nice in France with our private driver and flying to Rome where honestly 4 days is NOT enough. They keep saying to spend more time and we could not agree more! You need to spend more time in many of these places. Over the course of our time in Italy we saw so much and loved it all, though Sicily and the Mondello estate they had at us, 2 minutes walk from the prettiest beach in the world was our favorite and Roberto the owners there who know Jess and her team made it so wonderful for us! We are planning on going back and even considering moving to Italy we had such a great time!
