Welcome to Palermo!  Upon arrival at the Palermo International Airport, one of our staff members will be there to meet you and privately transfer you to Palermo, the capital of Sicily.  It is one of the most vibrant and exciting cities in the Mediterranean. Its allure lies in its unique blend of history, culture, food, and architectural splendor, all shaped by centuries of diverse influences.

Your hotel in Palermo will be located in the historical center of the city where everything is walking distance and you can experience some of the city's lively atmosphere.  Palermo is a street food lover’s paradise, offering a vibrant and diverse array of flavors deeply rooted in its multicultural history.  The street food scene truly is a feast for the senses, offering something for every taste. Whether you’re exploring its historic markets or grabbing a snack from a roadside cart, the city’s vibrant street food culture is an essential part of experiencing Palermo and this is why, we've included a food and wine experience in Palermo to showcase the best of what the city has to offer while you are in the city, the following day.

Following breakfast this morning, we will be there to meet you at the hotel and begin an incredible experience of Palermo's incredible historical center.  With the assistance of one of our top guides in Palermo, you will have the opportunity to immerses you in the rich history, vibrant culture, and architectural splendor of Palermo's historical center, offering an unforgettable glimpse into the city's past and present

This is a unique half-day experience that balances iconic landmarks, cultural experiences, and culinary delights, showcasing the essence of Palermo’s history and vibrancy in just a few hours. Whether you’re an art lover, history enthusiast, or foodie, Palermo’s historical center offers something unforgettable for everyone.

During our time in Palermo we will also have time to focus on the street food scene, which is not just about flavor—it’s about history, culture, and community. Each dish tells a story of the city’s Arab, Norman, and Spanish influences, making it a true cultural melting pot. Vendors often prepare their offerings with time-honored techniques, ensuring authenticity in every bite. As we stroll through the city, you will be experiencing rich history and enjoying incredible cuisine.  

Highlights of the tour will include:

  • Palermo Cathedral

A short walk away, the Palermo Cathedral is a masterpiece of architectural fusion. Marvel at its blend of Arab, Norman, Gothic, and Baroque styles, reflecting Sicily’s multicultural heritage. Step inside to see the royal tombs and climb to the rooftop for panoramic views of the city.

  • Quattro Canti (Four Corners)

Stroll to Quattro Canti, the heart of Palermo’s historic center. This Baroque square, with its symmetrical fountains and statues representing the four seasons, Spanish kings, and saints, is a perfect spot for photos and people-watching.

  • Church of San Cataldo and La Martorana

Nearby, visit the Church of San Cataldo, with its distinctive red domes, a reminder of Palermo’s Arab-Norman past. Next door, the Church of Santa Maria dell’Ammiraglio (La Martorana) boasts some of the most dazzling Byzantine mosaics in Sicily.

  • ​Teatro Massimo

If time permits, end your tour at the Teatro Massimo, Italy’s largest opera house. Admire its grand neoclassical facade and, if available, take a short guided tour of the elegant interior.

  • Ballarò Market

Conclude your tour with a sensory adventure at the Ballarò Market, Palermo’s oldest and most vibrant street market. Wander through colorful stalls filled with fresh produce, seafood, and street food like arancini, panelle, and cannoli. This is the perfect place to grab a quick bite and experience the lively local atmosphere.

Following our time in Palerrmo's historical center, we will take a drive up to Cathedral of Monreale,  located just outside Palermo. It is one of Sicily’s most important and iconic religious and architectural landmarks and a UNESCO world heritage site.  Built in the 12th century by Norman King William II, it represents the pinnacle of Arab-Norman architecture, a style unique to Sicily that blends Byzantine, Islamic, and Western European influences. The cathedral is a masterpiece of Arab-Norman design, combining elements of Romanesque structure with Islamic ornamental patterns and Byzantine mosaics.Its exterior features fortifications typical of Norman churches, while the cloister showcases intricate Islamic-style arches and carvings.

Inside, you will witness Spectacular Mosaics.  The interior is adorned with 6,500 square meters of gold mosaics, among the largest and most magnificent in the world. These mosaics narrate biblical stories, from Genesis to the life of Christ, with extraordinary detail and artistry.The Christ Pantocrator mosaic, dominating the apse, is particularly awe-inspiring and one of the most famous depictions of Christ in Christian art. The adjoining Benedictine cloister is a marvel of medieval craftsmanship, featuring 228 intricately carved columns with unique capitals. Many depict biblical stories, mythological scenes, and Islamic-inspired geometric patterns.

This is going to be a very exciting day and we intend on concluding our time in Monreale at approximately 16:00 PM where we will bring you back to your hotel and give you some time to relax and enjoy the amenities at your hotel or enjoy the fantastic shopping in Palermo.

Where we Visit : Agrigento, Siracusa,

This morning after a rich buffet breakfast at the hotel, we will be ready to start our journey across the island to Agrigento.  

A first impression of the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, Sicily, is one of awe and timeless wonder. As you approach this UNESCO World Heritage Site, the view of ancient Greek temples rising against a backdrop of rolling hills, olive groves, and the Mediterranean Sea creates a striking blend of history and natural beauty.  This will be an unforgettable where you will get to experience the majestic ruins, set against a breathtaking Sicilian landscape, offer not just a glimpse into the past but also a profound sense of timeless beauty and cultural richness. It’s a place where history comes alive, leaving visitors in awe of human creativity and the enduring spirit of antiquity.

We will have a break for lunch at the Marina of Agrigento which is a nice beach area before continuing onto our final destination today, the island city of Siracusa which will be our final destination today.

The historical center of Siracusa (Syracuse), located on Ortigia Island, is a captivating blend of history, architecture, and Mediterranean charm. As the heart of one of the most important cities of ancient Greece, Ortigia (also known as Ortygia) offers a journey through time, from Greek and Roman ruins to medieval and Baroque landmarks. Its narrow, winding streets, seaside vistas, and vibrant culture make it one of Sicily's most enchanting destinations.

1. Piazza del Duomo

This morning we will head south of Siracusa to the port where you will get your highpeed ferry to Malta where you will be met by our team in Malta at the ferry port and privately transferred to your hotel ideally situated in central Valetta.   You will have some time to settle into the hotel, then our guide will be there to meet you and take you on an incredible journey through this fascinating capital, which is now a Unesco World Heritage site.  

​Visit St. John’s Co-Cathedral to admire its ornate Baroque interior and Caravaggio’s masterpiece, The Beheading of Saint John the Baptist.
  • Explore the Upper Barrakka Gardens for panoramic views of the Grand Harbour and the historic Three Cities.
  • Wander the streets of Valletta, noting the colorful wooden balconies and grand historic buildings.

Afternoon

  • Grandmaster's Palace: Learn about the Knights of St. John and Malta's fascinating history.
  • Lunch at a local eatery, enjoying Maltese specialties like rabbit stew or pastizzi.

Evening

  • The Three Cities: Take a short ferry ride to explore Birgu (Vittoriosa), Senglea, and Cospicua. Stroll through their narrow streets, visit the Inquisitor’s Palace, and enjoy dinner with views of the harbor.

Morning

  • ĦaÄ¡ar Qim and Mnajdra Temples: Visit these megalithic sites, among the oldest free-standing structures in the world. Their coastal location offers breathtaking views.
  • Blue Grotto: Take a boat tour to see the stunning sea caverns, where sunlight illuminates the water in vibrant shades of blue.

Afternoon

  • Marsaxlokk: Head to this charming fishing village for a leisurely lunch by the waterfront. Admire the colorful luzzu boats and explore the local market.

Evening

  • Return to Valletta or head to Mdina, known as the "Silent City," for a magical evening stroll through its illuminated streets. Enjoy a fine dinner in one of Mdina’s historic palaces.

Where we Visit : Gozo, Comino,

After breakfast at the hotel this morning, we will be there to meet you to begin our full day guided experience of Gozo and Comino, which is as much a journey through the incredible Mediterranean natural landscape as it is through history. 

Morning

  • Ferry to Gozo: Start your day with a trip to Malta’s sister island.
    • Visit the Ä gantija Temples, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, older than the Pyramids of Giza.
    • Explore Victoria (Rabat) and the Citadel, a fortified city offering stunning views of Gozo.

Afternoon

  • Ramla Bay: Relax on this picturesque red-sand beach or explore the nearby Calypso’s Cave, tied to Homer’s Odyssey.
  • Enjoy a farm-to-table lunch featuring Gozo’s fresh produce and cheeses.

Evening

  • Comino’s Blue Lagoon: Stop by Comino on your way back to Malta for a swim in the crystal-clear waters of the Blue Lagoon.
  • Return to Malta and end your trip with a farewell dinner in Valletta or St. Julian’s, savoring local seafood paired with Maltese wine.
