This Villa Barone is a delightful hotel that is located just outside the beautiful town of Panzano in the heart of Chianti.  With sweeping vineyards that surround the property, a fantastic restaurant that uses entirely organic products and a wonderful swimming pool, the Villa Barone makes for a very fine choice during your stay in Chianti and an ideal base to explore Tuscany.

The property has a fascinating history and dates back to Medieval times.  Initially it was built as a tower between the 2 regions of Florence and Siena, which were at one time 2 very different kingdoms at war with one another.  From the Barone's position high on the hill, both valleys could be observed and so it was for centuries a very strategic place in Tuscany to be situated, and the position today is still one which offers great views.  

The property was later turned into an Olive Oil and wine estate by and was later converted into a charming botique hotel by Duchess Franca Visconti, who created a refined and elegant atmosphere of a private house, while offering all the modern necessary comfort. It is now the property of Duchess Franca Visconti's heirs, whom you will certainly be able to meet in Le Barone.

In addition to a fascinating history, and a wonderful location the owners of the villa own a farm in the region of Maremma a region in Tuscany where free-grazing cattle graze and the meat used at the restaurant in addition to other local products that are served in the restaurant with fine wines from the surrounding area.
