Overview
From the water, the city of Caglirai rises above the sea and is spread over seven hills, much like the city of Rome and in fact the city itself has Roman origines and today still conserves important Roman ruins such as the Amphitheatre, the Viper's cave and Tigellio's villa.
Our privately guided tours of the city can depart from any location (you tell us where!) and highlights include:
- The hilltop Castello, a medieval walled quarter situated high over the rest of the town, where evidence of the Romans can still be found in the two Pisan towers built in the 1300's together with the massive city walls that mark and watch over the oldest part of the town Castello.
- The 13th-century Cagliari Cathedral. Housed in a former arsenal, the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Cagliari displays bronze objects, Roman ceramics and artifacts from the Nuragic age to the Byzantine era.
- Gorgeous landscapes / beaches and flat areas where Flamingos often come to graze
