Overview
Although the town is small, there is so much to see including the imposing Fortezza Orsini, which is a stunning fortified medieval castle, enlarged by the noble Orsini around the first half of the XVI century. The whole complex is used as Museum of the Middle Ages and Renaissance.
If you are keen on ecclesiastic monuments, you wont' be disappointed by the three main churches:
- Collegiata di San Niccolò, with medieval origins, preserves precious works of art that cover a long period from the late Middle Ages to the XIX century;
- Chapel of Madonna del Borgo, lovely small church located in via del Cimitorio;
- Church of St Rocco, Romanesque building at one nave located into the homonym district;
- The Jewish ghetto is a very well kept fascinating area dating back to 1619, as instituted by the noble family of Medici.
