Discover Cortina d'Ampezzo: Private Tours, Experiences & Custom Travel

Located inside the Dolomite Super ski area, Cortina d'Ampezzo is a famous ski resort town in northern Italy.  The 1956 Olympic Winter games were held in Cortina and can still be visited.  These include the the Ice Stadium, the Eugenio Monti bobsleigh run and the disused ski jump Trampolino Olimpico Italia. The Tofane area is the site of a Women’s Ski World Cup race and Cortina Snow Park for jumps and tricks.
There are many other impressive sights of interest including the Giau Pass which is a snow-kite site. Nearby, the Lagazuoi 5 Torri area has more slopes, plus the expansive Museum of the Great War, with tunnels, trenches and reconstructed barracks from WWI.

In town, there are numerous shops, great bards and restaurants and for those who want a little bit more history - the Regole d’Ampezzo Ethnographic Museum has agricultural tools and traditional costumes. The Rinaldo Zardini Palaeontology Museum displays shells, corals and marine fossils that trace the formation of the Dolomites. Paintings by Renato Guttuso, Giorgio de Chirico and others are exhibited at the Mario Rimoldi Modern Art Museum. North of Cortina, Dolomiti d’Ampezzo Natural Park is home to chamois and ibex.

Getting into other areas nearby Cortina which do not include the slopes themselves will require a private car or driver.
