Campobasso is the both a city and province  in the region of Molise located in central Italy bordered by the Appenine mountains and the Adriatic sea.   It is not a city which is frequently visited in Italy, though because there are many descendents from the area who left in the early part of the 18th century for economic reasons, large numbers of families now return to experience the city and the region of Molise which is filled with natural geographic wonder as well as gastronomic and cultural delights. 

Getting here from Rome takes at least half a day and because of road hazards through the Appenines sometimes longer, for this reason we really recommend if you are coming to experience Molise and Campobasso that you consider spending at least 1 full night, which you will not regret. 

Fruthermmore, the sea-side, only about 35 minutes driving from Campobasso and the resort town of Termoli with it's ancient center is absolutely magnificent and a place that you simply do not want to miss!

To get to Campobasso and experience the wonderful regions of Molise and Abruzzo will not disappoint you, though we do recommend an Italian assistant, preferably driver guide who can help navigate the roads and assist with the locals here, since very few people in this area speak English and you will need an assitant if you are not at the very least conversational in Italian!
