Campitello Matese

Cities and Towns in Abruzzo and Molise

Campitello Matese rests at the base of the Southern Apennines "Matese Massif", and is a part of the San Massimo district, in the lower regions of the Molise district. The 2050mt high Mount Miletto, is at the heart of a ski resort which has encouraged the development of a flourishing tourist industry in the area.

In the winter season, 35km of alpine slopes, served by extremely efficient ski lifts make the area a much sought after destination for ski and snowboard enthusiasts. Between the Christmas and New Year festivities, a market selling local craft products is held along the streets of San Massimo.

During the summer, Campitello Matese is the ideal location from where to partake in tours and walking trips along the mountain pathways, by the shores of lake Matese, through woods and across meadows, and where to enjoy equestrian sports and every genre of outdoor activity. Traces of the area's rural past can be witnessed in the old farmsteads and in the folklore traditions of the Matese area, including theFestival held in honor of the Patron Saint San Massimo.

Client Testimonials

I went to high school with the owner of the company who organized my honeymoon for myself and my now wife from Tokyo. We spent three short weeks seeing Piedmont and experiencing wine paradise there, then heading to Nice in France with our private driver and flying to Rome where honestly 4 days is NOT enough. They keep saying to spend more time and we could not agree more! You need to spend more time in many of these places. Over the course of our time in Italy we saw so much and loved it all, though Sicily and the Mondello estate they had at us, 2 minutes walk from the prettiest beach in the world was our favorite and Roberto the owners there who know Jess and her team made it so wonderful for us! We are planning on going back and even considering moving to Italy we had such a great time!
