Private Tour of Paestum
Overview
South of the Amalfi Coast lies the town of Paestum, which is home to the oldest Greek temples in mainland Italy and is one of Campania's many UNESCO-listed sites.
In the morning, a driver will meet you at your hotel to take you to Paestum (pricing may vary slightly depending on hotel location), where your private guide will be waiting for you.
Paestum is a fascinating site, founded by Greek colonists who dedicated it to the sea god, Poseidon, around 600 BC. You will be amazed by the sheer size of the temples, which are unlike anything you have seen in Pompeii and Herculaneum.
The earliest of the three temples dates back to around 560 BC. Over the years, the temples have been associated with different gods, and you will learn why it has been so challenging for scholars, although they are all believed to have been built in honor of female deities.
The temples are not the only ruins of ancient Poseidonia remaining. Your guide will show you evidence of the Greek settlers in the altars and the agora, while the later Roman inhabitants made their mark with the amphitheater and grand houses.
Finally, you will visit the museum that houses many of the finds from the site and some beautiful tomb paintings, including the charming Tomb of the Diver.
At the end of your visit, you may want to stop for lunch in town before heading back to your hotel.

Hotels
1. Hotel Sovestro in San Gimignano was wonderful. The staff were very friendly and helpful and made the first portion of our journey very stress free. They made us feel like we were part of their family. I would recommend it to anyone and would specifically ask for it if we were to make a return visit.
2. Hotel La Baia in Monterosso was nice and it's location was very good especially for us older folks humping luggage from/to the train station.
3. Hotel Lucchesi in Florence- what can I say expect FANTASTIC. The rooftop view at sunset is well worth it. Again very friendly and helpful staff. Would recommend it to everyone.
Wine Tour
Money well spent. We had a great time overall. The driver Mario was OUTSTANDING. He had lots of local knowledge as well as about winemaking. USE HIM AGAIN!!!
The various wineries we visited on tour:
Altesino- fantastic and they were not cheap on their pouring. Great experience.
Azienda Agricola Patrizia Cencion Sloaria- Again a great tour by one of the owner's daughters. We felt like we were the only thing on their mind although there were other customers there. A great way to complete the day.
Again we had a fantastic time and are very appreciative of everything you booked for us. We wish you continued success and if our travels should bring us back to Italy, we know who to call.
