Montefiascone is a gorgeous town overlooking Lake Bolsena in the Lazio region of Italy. Perched at the height of the mount Fiascone, the town sprawls down the lush countryside towards the lake and hinterland. Wonderful 365 degree views are available and a great medieval town center to explore.

Along the lake, a popular summer resort with Roman tourists, various cafes, gardens and some fantastic restaurants offering fresh fish and meat grown locally await visitors who care to make the journey here, which is definitely a great stop to make!

This is a top day trip from Rome or from Civitavecchia and can be combined with visits to Civita di Bagnoreggio, Villa Lante and the various towns around this lake.
