Explore the Cities and Towns of Frosinone

Overview

Frosinone is both a town and a province in Italy's Lazio region in central Italy and it makes for a wonderful day trip out of Rome, to experience the wonders of this area which include notable ruins, wineries, agriturismos (farms where local food is produced) and numerous geological and cultural wonders.

Not to be missed in the town of Frosinone, the Church of San Benedetto, built in 1134, and rebuilt in the 19th century, mixing Doric and Ionic elements. Inside, an ancient picture gallery houses canvases dating from the 17th to 19th centuries. In the vicinity of the vicolo del Boia, place where public executions once took place, there is the elegant Church of Santa Elisabetta. Just outside the historic center, lies the octagonal shaped Church of Delibera, also known as the Church of San Magno: an ancient edifice dating back to the 9th century.
