In the old heart of Castellammare del Golfo, just a few steps from the sea, Costamante Suites & SPA is a small and special place. It lives inside a lovingly restored eighteenth-century residence, where traces of the past sit gently alongside warm, contemporary design. With only seven suites, it feels less like a hotel and more like your own private corner of Sicily.

Each suite has its own character and name, from the sea-view Vista Mare rooms looking out over the Tonnara and the islands, to the romantic Incanto with its private terrace and jacuzzi under the open sky. They are generous in space and rich in detail, the kind of rooms you settle into and never quite want to leave.

At the heart of the stay is the AMA Spa, a quiet sanctuary for slowing down. Ease into the hydromassage pool with its cervical waterfall, warm up in the Finnish sauna or Turkish bath, cool off under a Scottish shower, then unwind in the relaxation area with a herbal tea in hand. Mornings bring a cooked-to-order Sicilian breakfast served right in your suite, made with the kind of home cooking the island is loved for.

The setting is a joy in itself. The pretty Cala Marina harbour, the dramatic Faraglioni rocks and the wild beauty of the Zingaro Nature Reserve are all close by, and the lanes, cafes and sea views of Castellammare are right outside your door. It is a wonderful base for exploring western Sicily at your own unhurried pace.
