Italy. Places Change Us. On Page One of National Geographic Traveller (UK), September 2026.

When National Geographic Traveller dedicated its September issue to Italy and its islands, we opened the magazine with one idea: the best journeys change the people who take them.

An Entire Magazine Devoted to Italy and Its Islands

The September 2026 issue of National Geographic Traveller (UK) puts Italy on the cover with the line "Alternative Island Escapes: Sicily, Tremiti Archipelago, Capraia and more." The cover story follows the locals bringing new life to the islands, from an artist in Sicily to a cheesemaker reviving Capraia and a diver exploring the reefs of Puglia.

The idea behind the issue is simple. Sardinia alone welcomed 22 million arrivals last year, yet Italy has more than 400 smaller islands that most travelers never see, and the best way to experience any of them is through the people who live there.

That is the Italy we have been showing our guests for more than 20 years. You can browse the official 26-page sample of the issue online.

What You Will Find on Page One

Turn the front cover and you will find Italy Vacation Specialists: a quiet bay on the southern coast, boats at anchor below an old stone watchtower, and three words. Places change us.

For more than 20 years, we have created journeys across Italy and its extraordinary islands, journeys that leave travellers with something far more valuable than souvenirs.

We chose those words because they describe why we do this work. Every journey we plan is private and shaped around the people taking it, by a team of drivers, guides, tour escorts and trip planners who know Italy first hand.

The page closes with what we hope every guest takes home: perspective, connection and stories they will tell forever.
