Many people don’t consider Italy as a winter holiday destination, opting perhaps for more warmer climates in the Carribean and South Pacific.  The truth however, that Italy is a great place to visit any time of year, however the fall and winter months are perhaps some of the best and least considered by travelers to Italy.  Not only are the temperatures still very mild, the further south you get the warmer it gets and usually the cost of accommodations is far less.

For winter sport enthusiasts the Italian Alps offer some of the best skiing in the world, however all along Italy’s coast there are micro-climates and places like the Italian Riviera, Sicily and even Rome and Florence are typically very mild during the winter months and the food served up all over the country, which returns to the locals during the winter months is often more flavourful and the customer service is often better, especially in the major tourist areas.
