The coast of Maratea stretches from the town of Sapri in the Campania region to Praia a Mare, in the region of Calabira. It is a small stretch of coast belonging to the region of Basilicata in southern Italy, which is entirely landlocked, except for this extraordinarily beautiful coastline, which very few visitors to Italy have ever heard of, let alone visited.
For this reason, the area is unspoilt and extraordinarily beautiful, mostly rocky, though with some beautiful black-sand beaches. The views along the coast change frequently, in a constant procession of beaches, inlets, islets, rocks and grottoes, that have justly made this coastline famous for its beauty and for the crystal-clear water of the sea.
Villa Maratea Mirasole is the result of the restoration and extension of an old 18th Century farmhouse, which was the only building in the whole area up until the 1960s. Today the building lies in a residential area, in a quiet and privileged position with a beautiful view of the sea. The large, terraced fenced garden steps down amid olive, citrus and carob trees decorated with roses, bougainvillea and wisteria, and in the centre a 5x12.5m swimming-pool has been built, for guests private use. The large terrace opens from the living-room and offers a beautiful panorama of the coast and is furnished for relaxation and for dining outside. The villa is furnished with country furniture from the beginning of the 1900s and is furnished with dishwasher, washing-machine, stereo with CD, telephone and TV.
Direct access to the sea through a footpath of 200 meters. The access is closed by a gate. Access to the beach below is reserved only for our guests and neighbor villas.
On request the domestics can also prepare an excellent local cuisine. The village of Maratea is made up of several different parts, and the oldest part, which is very attractive and has all the services you might need, is on top of the hill about 3 kms from the villa. The harbour and Fiumicello are about 1.5 kms away, and there you will find shops, very good restaurants, tennis courts, boat hire and a sub-aqua school.
GROUND FLOOR: large living-room with dining-area, two salons of which one has a fireplace, corner studio and access to the large panoramic terrace with a view over the swimming-pool and of the sea, furnished for dining outside; two adjoining kitchens, one of which has been made recently, both with dishwasher, small larder.
FIRST FLOOR: 1 double bedroom with bathroom with tub, 1 double bedroom with bathroom with shower, 3 twin bedrooms with bathroom with shower.
Large private garden with bathroom with shower for the swimming-pool.
